Bobby Maddox, M.D. performed his first excimer laser vision correction procedure in 1992, thus being the first ophthalmologist in the El Paso area to perform that type of laser surgery.
In fact, Dr. Maddox is recognized as one of the early excimer laser pioneers and instructors of the laser vision correction procedure in the United States and the world as he not only performed lasers here but also in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua.
Dr. Maddox, who received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Texas in 1970, retired from practice in July 2013. At that time, he entrusted his patient’s medical records to our LASIK surgeon Dr. Javier De la Torre, and the rest of the doctors and staff here at the Southwest Eye Institute.
