Dr. Carla Aguilar Wendler was born in El Paso, TX and raised in the nearby town of Canutillo, Texas. She obtained an academic scholarship to the University of Houston, where she completed her Bachelor of Science degree and then her Doctorate of Optometry. Dr. Wendler has practiced optometry for more than twenty years including in the states of Colorado, Minnesota, New Mexico and Texas. She has extensive experience in diagnosing and managing adult and pediatric eye problems.
Dr. Wendler is grateful to have had the opportunity to participate in volunteer eye care missions abroad with VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity) and the Rotary Club in Honduras, Nicaragua, and Mexico, which has allowed her to utilize her Spanish fluency. She is a member of the American Optometric Association and New Mexico Optometric Association were she has served as a trustee for the southwest region of New Mexico.
Dr. Wendler loves being “back home“ and strives to educate and care for each patient as she would care for a family member. Outside of work, she stays busy spending time with her husband and their three children. She enjoys exercising, including skiing and weightlifting.
